Best Buy is slowly leaking out small detail here and there about what will be in their ads. Recently they announced 3 new doorbuster deals that will be sure to get people in the door. HDTV deals and laptops are some of the most commonly requested items on Black Friday and Best Buy is delivering on that promise.
The following items are:
- Insignia 39″ 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV – $169.00 (reg. $249.99)
- LG 55″ 1080p 120Hz HDTV – $499.99 (reg. $1000+)
- ASUS 15″ Touchscreen Laptop w/ Windows 8 – $249.00 (reg. $500+)
The 39″ HDTV and Asus Laptop are confirmed models but the 55″ HDTV is a guess based on current inventory and pricing.
If we look at what Fry’s did last year, we see that last year Fry’s had a Sony 15″ Ultrabook for $598 during the Black Friday sale. They also had 42″ LED HDTV for $449 and a 55″ LED HDTV for $899 during the Saturday sale. With the prices of HDTV continuing to drop like a rock we expect much lower prices this year.
Best Buy also announced that they will be opening up at 6pm on Thanksgiving Day. This is a controversial move that started with most retailers 2 years ago. There has been some backlash against this practice, mainly with employees who have to work on a national holiday, but Best Buy has decided they will continue the tradition this year as well.
After initially scooting up opening times in 2011 to Midnight on Friday, Fry’s refused to follow the Thanksgiving opening grand last year, opening up the stores at 6am on Black Friday. Fry’s still had online-only deals starting at 9am to satisfy those early-bird urges.
We’ve reached out to Fry’s to get updated store hours for this year, but have yet to hear back. If we were to venture a guess we would think Fry’s would have a similar strategy as last year, releasing online-only deals on Thursday and keeping door busters for a 5am/6am store opening time.
