We just got a tip from an insider from Fry’s saying that this year’s Black Friday ad releases will be mixed up a bit this year.
Usually Fry’s has a 2 page ad on Thursday, a repeat on Friday, then a big 8-page Saturday, one-day-only sale.
This year we’re hearing that Fry’s will be planning for the 2-page Friday ad as usual, but instead will have a 1-page, one-day-only sale on Saturday then an 8-page full ad on Sunday that’s good through Thursday.
Why the change in schedule? Our insider is telling us that Fry’s will soon announce a big power play in matching competitors prices to online sales! Fry’s will announce that, starting Sunday, they will now price match all major online retailers and sales such as Best Buy, Amazon and Newegg. They are using their Sunday circular to do it.
If so, this is a very bold move in the retail space, cementing their position as the electronics store with the lowest prices.
Thursday: 2-page doorbuster ad, good for one day only
Friday: same 2-page ad (maybe some minor revisions), good for one day only
Saturday: 1-page ad, good for one day only
Sunday: 8-page ad, good until Thursday. Online price matching begins then.
Now just a reminder that this is just a rumor and subject to change, but we’ve had very good tips from this insider before.
